FIFA and CFA Join Forces to Further Develop Football in China

 

On 26th April, FIFA president Gianni Infantino and acting president of the Chinese Football Association (CFA) Du Zhaocai met at FIFA headquarters in Zurich and signed a memorandum of understanding between the two entities.

 

The agreement will see cooperation of two sides in enhancing the structures, management and technical aspects related to football in China. The partnership will focus on strengthening governance structure of the CFA, technical development at all levels, refereeing, professionalisation of football and event management.

 

"It must be a priority of FIFA to ensure that the world’s most popular game keeps growing and developing in the world’s most populous country,” said FIFA president Gianni Infantino.

Bundesliga Club Borussia Dortmund Elevate Fans Engagement with Tik Tok Entry

 

On April 26th, German football giant Borussia Dortmund launched their accounts on TikTok, a Chinese short video sharing platform (Douyin overseas version).

 

Users can post short clips with a maximum length of 15 seconds with their mobile phone and creatively design them with music, sounds and filters. With more than 500 million downloads in more than 150 countries and regions, TikTok is considered as a creative way to connect with fans of young generation.

 

With more than 230 million fans worldwide and 12 social media accounts, Borussia Dortmund is one of the most popular Bundesliga clubs and an influential brand of German football.

Chinese Super League Launches Store on Alibaba’s Tmall

 

On April 27th, the Chinese Football Association Super League (CSL) unveiled its official store on Tmall, an leading e-commerce platform of Alibaba Group.The site will provide an easy and convenient place for Chinese fans to purchase authentic CSL merchandise, from souvenirs and accessories to match jerseys.

 

For the other part of the cooperation of two sides, Tmall will also benefit from the partnership on advertising rights, media rights and promotion rights during CSL tournaments.

 

In 2017, the average audience of CSL ranked fifth in the world (23,700) and currently 96 countries regularly broadcast CSL matches.

International Center of European Football Joins Hands in Chinese Football Youth Training

 

On April 30th, the International Center of European Football (ICEF) announced their future business plan in China and will focus on Chinese youth training.

 

ICEF will continue to promote their summer training camp in China and plans to set up a Chinese office in June this year. The first ICEF China Center will be established within this year, bringing advanced football concepts to China, helping local communities to build a complete football youth training system.

 

The International Center of European Football, situated in Evian, France, is a professional football center. It offers football program for student-athletes training.

30.26 Million Active Participants of Winter Sports in China By 2025

 

On April 30th, the Sports Business School of Beijing Sport University launched the China Ice and Snow Industry Development Potential Report. The report highlighted that 30.26 million Chinese people will frequently participate in the winter sports by 2025.

 

Professor Lin Xianpeng, one of the writers of the report, stressed the vital role that urban consumption played in the China's ice and snow industry. The report said that China will enter the "golden 20 years" of ice and snow industry development from now on.

 

China aims to draw 300 million people in a broad sense into winter sports by Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics. A recently released national survey shows that 270 million people in China have now participated in winter sports, almost a quarter of the total Chinese population.

ATP World Tour 250 Zhuhai Championships to be Held in September

 

The 2019 ATP World Tour 250 Zhuhai Championships will be staged at Hengqin Tennis Center in Zhuhai from September 23th to 29th.

 

According to the official press conference held on April 26th, male tennis big names Stefanos Tsitsipas, Nick Kyrgios and Roberto Bautista Agut will participate in the competition.
